To understand if I.E.P. services are right for your child and family, I offer an initial consultation at no charge. Once I receive your completed intake form, I will call you to schedule our first consultation.
Early childhood developmental screenings
I can help by doing an in-depth developmental interview with parents or caregivers, review of medical records or previous testing, observing your child at play – individually or in a group-- and administering developmental assessments and tasks consistent with appropriate growth toward formal schooling.
Consultations regarding delayed school entry, retention and promotion
I can help by doing in-depth interviews with parents or caregivers, review of medical record and previous testing, observing your child at play – individually or in a group-- and administering readiness assessments and tasks measuring acquisition of kindergarten or grade appropriate pre-academic and academic skills, emotional maturity, rate of physical maturation, social skills and behavior.
Third-party record reviews including test interpretation and recommendations
I can help parents or caregivers understand psycho-educational and neuro-psychological testing and interpret recommendations for specific applications at both school and at home.
Behavior management plans
I can help you manage your child’s behavior at home and at school by conducting behavioral assessments and designing management plans.
Study skills and metacognitive assessments
I have developed interview protocols and assessments to gauge a student’s knowledge and application of age-appropriate study techniques and their level of developmental and cognitive maturation with regards to their understanding of their own learning. I can also help parents with how to motivate their children to both learn and achieve.
Consultation and counseling for attention related issues, anxiety and stress-related behaviors
Has your child been diagnosed with ADHD or ADD? Are you wondering if they might have an attention disorder? Is your child exhibiting symptoms of anxiety or stress in social situations or about school? Are you concerned about bullying or inappropriate use of social media. I can help you understand these issues and recommend actions to help.
Parent/school advocate and liaison
Sometimes parents or caregivers experience difficulties with communication with school personnel or have concerns about their child’s grade placement, rate of progress, or placement regarding special education or other education needs. I can help with the design of a child’s Individual Education Plan or Section 504 plan. I can prepare written recommendations with appropriate rationales and represent you at meetings as needed.
Transition to post-secondary institutions or college
I can prepare written recommendations for services at the training center, college or university after reviewing school records and assess your student’s readiness.
Diagnostic reading assessment
Assessment of phonemic awareness, phonics, word decoding and fluency, listening comprehension, and oral and silent reading comprehension. Identification of reading and learning disability and dyslexia diagnosis.
